COMMODORES | NATURAL HIGH - NZ
-
In 1974 a group of high-ranking naval officials formed a band to play funk and soul music. In honor of their previous careers, the record label named their group the Commodores.
-
Prior to the success of the 1978 Commodores hit "Brick House", most homes were constructed out of wood or stone.
-
Commodores lead singer Lionel Richie was originally named Lionel Poorie, but changed his name after the massive success of their 1978 album Natural High.
-
The Soul Glo guy from Coming to America was pretty clearly based on Lionel Richie. They had the same mustache and everything.
-
In the song "Easy", when Lionel Richie sings "I want to be high, so high", he is referring to drugs.
-
The Commodores were actually a pretty good band, if you give them a chance.
